The Used Tube Socks are porcelain casts of socks that were burned in a ceramic kiln. Each sock was used by a performer in a live performance. Saved and soaked in porcelain slip, the socks burn away and a porcelain copy remains. Each sock is a failed attempt to fix or arrest the quotidian repetition inherent to the daily performance of the self in everyday life. They remain only as a relic, trace, or imprint of the attempt to hold on to what is always happening and always slipping away.
